Supported by its sponsoring local municipality, the Emalahleni Field Band of Dordrecht in the Eastern Cape (see the story “Not where you expected?” above) has forged close ties with the Jubal Drum and Bugle Corps in its namesake Dordrecht in The Netherlands

This is has seen our Field Band receive a visit, instruction and equipment from Jubal and, along with the supporting Emalahleni municipality, play host to Dordrecht (Holland) mayor Arno Brok, Jubal chairman Hans Kloppert, and their colleagues.

Jubal Drum and Bugle Corps are now sending a container of musical equipment to the Emalahleni Field Band, and, with financial support from the Dordrecht (Holland) municipality, hosted a week-long visit by our Emalahleni tutors Monde Fishidi and Masibulele Langa. These Foundation members performed with the Jubal band before Dutch King Willem-Alexander in honour of his birthday on 27 April (SA’s Freedom Day).

The Emalahleni Field Band is managed by Project Officer Phumezo Hlanganise, a former exchange student to the US Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps.
